Essay Writing

My essay writing skills are non-existent.
I can debate and write speeches and Im good at anything verbal, but I cant write an essay to save my life.
I dont understant pharagraphing or structure and I cant write anything without sounding "chatty".

Run Lola Run - Ideas in Sequences

In the sequence 'Who Can Help?', the scene relates to a lot of main ideas of the film; such as the race against time (shown by the, clock, quick cuts and the quickness of Lola's thinking dialogue), money (shown by the casino man) and that everything is linked (shown by the dominoes - the dominoe effect).

What are my thoughts on these phrases?

*1* "All endings are also beginings"
I agree with this one as the ending of one thing is also the begining of another, eg: end of school is the start of an independent life or even something silly like the end of the night is the start of a new morning. I like this saying.

*2* "No story sits by itself"
Im not totaly sure what is meant by this. I think it means that your life is always intertwined with someone else, like maybe a 'chapter' of your life or an event might have been shared with someone else so it would be a 'chapter' in theres too. If that is what it is, then I agree.

What do I think about the idea of 'controlling' or 'manipulating' time?

I dont believe in it. I dont think it would be a very good idea as you could very easily wreck your life or just as easily, someone elses.
I wouldent want to change anything as I feel that the worst times of my life and all the mistakes or bad choices I have made have taught me a valuable life lesson and those lessons are neccessary to be me.

Narrative Techniques

I think that there are a lot of narrative technigues used in 'Run Lola Run', such as the split screen (which I dont like as it doesent look good or realistic) and the red filtered dream sequences. The dream sequences are two big metaphors. A red filter is used which stands for;
- love
- passion
- emotion
- death
- blood
The dream sequences are used as links from the previous sequence to the next.

The director has a very distinctive style and it is very unconventional

There is a good use of different medias in 'Run Lola Run' and I think its made realy well, I just hate the storyline!
A good story should have morals.
It should be able to inspire the viewer or at least entertain them by making them laugh or cry.
'Run Lola Run' did none of this, it dident even have a moral! It was pointless.

We finished watching 'Run Lola Run' today and though the second half was better, I was still realy bored. I dident like the plot or the characters (they were both phsyco criminals).
I thought the different use of media was pretty cool, though I dident realy enjoy it for a movie, it would proberly be better in a documentry or something.
I think Mrs Cleary chose to show us this film because its her favourite movie (??) and because the plot does deal with fate, albeit in a wierd, messed up way.
I realy dont want to watch it again!

I watched a movie in English called 'Run Lola Run'
I thought it was stupid and too confusing with a confusing plot and characters AND it was in German! I had no problem with reading the subtitles but I still think its wierd that we watched a German movie in English class... Im sure there are movies in English that deal with fate in a far more clear, interesting and better way.
So far the characters are realy unlikeable! Lola is selfish and rather stupid and looks like a hobo while her boyfriend (the main reason I think shes an idiot) is a criminal!
